"And no, we're not talking about Rev. Wright to anyone but superdelegates- make that 'automatic.' Sorry Harold."

Here's a strange bit of business: a fortnight gone by and The Clintons are still nattering on about Governor Bill Richardson's endorsement of Obama.

It was an event Clinton not really an advisor Mark Penn dismissed as past its sell-by date within hours.

So why do they keep gnawing at it?

We suspect it's because The Clintons see minorities as their personal game park. After all, Bubba's the first American black president.

They drive through from time to time and take pictures, complimenting the denizens on their development and reminding them who holds their fortunes in their hands.

Once the African-America bloc began to crack for the upstart Obama, they had to scramble, pronto, to hold the line with the Hispanics in the west. The Hispanics delivered the goods in the only valid caucus in America- Nevada's, and in the California primary.

So the Richardson defection might put a chunk of The Clintons' Hispanic bloc in play. This her comments, reported by a variety of sources, that "Obama can't win."

"Can't"- the certainty, the impossibility- is code. It means in no turn of events can Obama win, because he's --- well, you fill in the blank. And if you need prompting, go back to Bubba's rages in South Carolina.

Asked about it today at a press event, the she-Clinton replied, in Nixonian part, "Let me just say this about that." Then she went on to piously declare she never talks about private conversations.

Apparently The Clintons' view is that the Democratic Party is meant to be led by white people. From one family.

Look for them to turn on their gay supporters next, although so far, that bloc seems far more habituated to do as they are told than the other in the big tent.

Do you have any insights into why that is? I've had conversations with gay friends out their allegiance to the Clintons. I still don't get it.

Sorry for the typo - "out" should have been "about."
