The Philly Inquirer notes SC Senator Jim DeMint told Senator Arlen Specter he would support Specter's primary opponent, Club for Growth ideologue Pat Toomey, just before Specter announced he was crossing the aisle to the Democrats:

DeMint said the defection “shows that there were not principles attaching Arlen to the Republican Party, but the Republican Party was the means to get elected.”

Down the hall, this comment: "Everyone switches parties when you know you're going to lose," Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told FOX News.

Somehow it was different when SC legislator Dennis Moss bailed on the Ds for the Rs in Columbia.
