Still more new ideas from the fringe

Palmetto Morning's tracking Senator Jim DeMint's latest defenses of freedom. He's against national parks and in favor of letting credit card issuers screw their cardholders.

VIEWPOINT — DEMINT LAND GRAB PLEA — Americans should be wary of any plans a president has to seize land from the states without their consent. Any new plans to take away states’ freedom to use land as they see fit must be stopped.
VIEWPOINT II — DEMINT FINDS “ABSURD” — A coalition of labor unions, civil rights activists and consumer groups met Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett yesterday to discuss joining forces to push for an independent consumer financial agency, said Travis Plunkett, the Consumer Federation of America’s legislative director. “The proposal is simply absurd,” Senator Jim DeMint, a South Carolina Republican, said in an interview yesterday.
