Another billionaire set free by the Citizens United case
One of the closest races in the nation is getting some attention from a major corporation: Nike.
The worldwide shoe brand has taken an active notice in their backyard election. Nike Chairman Phil Knight, who has often donated money to Oregon politicos, is opening the checkbook for Oregon Republican candidates.
While Mr. Knight did not donate any money in 2008, he has given $50,000 to House Minority Leader Bruce Hanna and $15,000 apiece to three GOP candidates in competitive races.
The Nike chairman has also given money to Republican gubernatorial candidate Chris Dudley. Mr. Knight gave the Dudley campaign $200,000 earlier this year. He has also given money to a number of organizations aimed at overturning legislatively approved tax hikes in the state.
