The Guardian continues to cement its reputation as the go-to newspaper for things literary. Today they report
a February 1956 recording of Allen Ginsburg's first public reading of "Howl" has turned up in Reed College's archives. Ginsburg gave the reading after a chance invitation by a friend with connections to Portland, Oregon's most interesting and eccentric college. Reed will post the recording on its website,
http://www.reed.edu/, on Friday February 15.
Willamette Week already has
an excerpt available.
