Devoted readers of WhackyNation.com just can't tear themselves away from its daily screeds. Lou Guzzo, the site's Deep Thought, and author of policy wonk classics like Masseur!: Chronicle of an International Rascal- is a veritable fount of crochets and whimsies, with an indefatigable attachment to a handful of ideas that he repeats- and repeats- and repeats.
One of those is that scientist Rachel Carson- author of Silent Spring- is a sort of environmental war criminal for single-handedly causing the banning of DDT, which, in turn, led to a resurgence of malaria in states Deep Thought thinks we should adopt under his Foster Nations program.
Trouble is, he's wrong. The malaria ban was a combination of overuse- leading to resistant insects- and a tobacco industry lobbying effort.
Let's see if he will have the guts to admit it.
