A fine evening out

Out to the ballgame this evening with some family and friends to see the Greenville Drive, a Red Sox farm team, host their counterparts from Rome, Georgia. Didn't catch their team name- the Centurions?

Bad night for the home team; they lost 6-1. Great night out, though; temps in the 70s, the lights of downtown twinkling as night fell. The horrors of the Belgian brother-in-law taking part in the "Sweet Caroline" audience singalong. And beer!

That last one still amazes us. The Carolinas of several decades ago were the Sahara of alcohol. It's a civilizing thing to sit with friends in a ballpark, cracking peanuts, watching the game, and hoisting a cold one to The Drive's one run.
