Once we've settled on the price what you call me is irrelevant

A California "automatic" delegate might need to change his title to "automatic deposit."

Steven Ybarra says he'll sell his vote to the candidate who gives him $20m.

It's for educating and registering Mexican-American voters, he says, who are the key to winning the presidency for the Democrats.

Unless Mr. Ybarra has some more cards to play, he seems to have made his offer a little early. His optimum value is as the last delegate uncommitted, and by our count there's 781 left, either uncommitted or yet to be chosen/won.

If you think of the Democratic Party as a corporate takeover target, it has a market capitalization- based on Mr. Ybarra's valuation of himself as a delegate- of $86.44b. Obama Ventures now has 1848 shareholder proxies worth just under $37b, while Clinton Family Enterprises has 1693 valued at $33.86b.
