Some tracking polls out of North Carolina today suggest the newly certified Libertarian Party may be having some early impact on races for governor and president. Public Policy Polling shows Bob Barr pulling 6% against either Clinton or Obama and McCain. He's also drawing 9-12% of his vote from independent voters.
The LP candidate for governor, Michael Munger, is pulling 4% against McCrory (R) andPerdue(D) and is attracting 15%of independent voters. Both candidates are pulling more of their support from the Republicans than the Democrats. Early days yet, as most people won't really focus till after Labor Day given the late convention schedules. But interesting nonetheless.
