"War is never fatal but always lost."

The Times of London has a long and useful explanation of the Georgian situation that put us in mind of an observation Getrude Stein made in 1940:

And now it is once more an August and September and there is once more a crisis...the American married to a frenchwoman remarked my American sister rises wonderfully to a crisis but my french wife sees to it that a crisis does not arise.
