Getting worked up about issues that aren't

Some thnigs you can just sit back and wait for:

It's not on the ballot in SC; nobody with ahead thinks it's going to be brought up in the legislature or the courts anytime soon; Congress won't touch it; both major presidential candidates oppose it: yet SC Republican bloggers are ginning up ahead of steam over marriage equality. Harare Grocery's carrying the water against congressional candidate Linda Ketner, who's rich and gay and a Democrat; and Senator Kevin Bryant's got a candidate debate video link about it.

When you gotta make an issue outta something that's not an issue where you are, it seems like a whiff of desperation, a dollop of gay-baiting, or maybe a little of both.

Kinda sad, really. What'd be really interesting would be for some of these blogs to explain why gays should have no legal rights; or, if any they should have, why those and why no more.

Any takers?
