If gay Republicans back the same dumb policies straight Republicans have, why aren't they welcome in their own party?

Of course, now that even gay Republicans have split, it'll be worth reading just to see what she imagines a Republican progressive to be. She's headlining LCR's convention next week, Ben Smith reports.

Smith reports the new group is GOProud, "which will focus on traditional Republican issues like private health care and private savings accounts.

'If your main issue is hate crimes or [federal anti-discrimination legislation] or marriage, you're probably not a Republican,' Barron said, saying that while he backs gay groups on those other issues, they shouldn't be federal priorities."

GOProud's home planet is the blog Gay Patriot, which, in the civil rights era, would have said to segregationists, "Think about it. Take all the time you need. The court did say 'with all deliberate speed.'"
