Baby steps beat lynch mobs

A blog we'd not seen before, The Stimulist, popped up on the radar with a provocative claim: the gay tribe's unhappiness with the President is misplaced. It's more a matter of expecting him to be all things to all people and undo all things Bush overnight.

Maybe, as the post suggests, the President's recognized that the extraordinary bigotry of the Bush presidency finally summoned up the tipping point mass needed by the gay tribe to win battles on its own. No need to intervene when intervention isn't needed.

It's still irritating as all get-out the way the President hasn't tackled easy issues when his capital is in high cotton- but on his worst day, he is light years better than Uncle Grumpy and Sarah Palin would have been. In a contest between a party militant to make me even less equal than I am now, and one that does little to advance my rights but at least doesn't try to diminish them, the President wins.
