The high thread count lets him sleep all the more soundly.

While his minions close parishes he stewards for want of money, alone in his million-dollar mansion in Portland, Bishop Richard Malone  is surely counting red caps in his sleep: with the aid of the secretively-funded National Organization for Marriage, he has made the State of  Maine into a theocracy. The will of a popularly-elected legislature and governor are as nothing to him.

What must it be like to enter a polling booth and decided, "Today I make a conscious choice to remove the rights of my neighbors, my family members, and fellow Mainers I have never met"?

The extraordinary lies the Church's ad campaign told make confession a mockery.

Jesus wept.
