Anglicans, standing on their heads

From Changing Attitudes, the state of play in the Anglican Communion now that LA has elected a lesbian bishop:
The Anglican Communion’s official stance means that it is committed to oppose the consecration of a partnered lesbian or gay bishop at all costs, but not to the execution or life imprisonment of a lesbian or gay person in Uganda nor imprisonment for 3 years of any family member, church member, priest or bishop who fails to denounce a know lesbian or gay person to the police within 24 hours.

  1. Yup, it is time for the Episcopal Church to part ways with the Anglican Communion. The Presiding Bishop of ECUSA has issued a statement condemning the Ugandan legislation. The Anglican Church of Canada's Council of General Synod also has issued a statement opposing the Ugandan legislation. ECUSA is not of one mind about ordination of partnered lesbians or gays, or blessing of same-sex unions, but even more conservative members of ECUSA have serious problems with the bigotry and brutality of the Ugandan legislation. Apparently the Archbishop of Canterbury does not. Enough is enough; it is time for ECUSA to leave.
