Another new Republican idea: to build a world-class workforce, keep them stupid and fat

After Warthen- and Waldo- branded Attorney General Henry McMaster (R-Running for Governor) as beyond the pale for declaring he would die before increasing the cigarette tax and let school teachers go on payless furloughs instead- and First Lady Michelle Obama launched a campaign to address childhood obesity- SC state senator Larry Grooms (R-Nobody Wanted Me to Run For Governor) has come down squarely on the side of morbidly obese teenagers and underfunded school food programs:

And one subcommittee member, GOP Sen. Larry Grooms of Bonneau, said he'll fight it no matter, saying the state has no business micromanaging what students can buy.

Grooms and his fellow new idea Republicans are fighting the rear guard action UK chef Jamie Oliver took on in 2005:

Kids were eating piles of processed junk and recoiled at the sight of fresh vegetables. And the terrible diet was leading to a health time-bomb, with soaring rates of obesity and hugely increased risks of heart disease and other life-threatening conditions for Britain's children.

The diff is Oliver forced the UK government to spend hundreds of millions of pounds in extra school meal funding. Grooms just wants to keep feeding SC kids shit.
