It actively hampering court functions and the public's right to be heard judicial activism?

Senator Jim DeMint's at it again, this time preventing confirmation of a DC Superior Court nominee whose approved by a Senate Committee.

DeMint says Judge Marisa Demeo has a "history of very leftist activism," in a paywalled Legal Times interview quoted by TPM:
"There are just a number of things that don't look like a fair and balanced approach that you'd like in a judge," DeMint told the Legal Times.
DeMint's criticism seems to be centered on Demeo's work for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF).
It likely doesn't help matters that Judge Demeo is openly gay, given DeMint's more public interview in which he  got really squeamish about 'mos in government.
