Friday lunch grab

-SC residents, down near the Georgia border, are slurping up federal jobs cash even as they don't want it on ideological grounds.

-Senator Jim DeMint has appointed himself the new, third, senator from Pennsylvania:

DEMINT WANTS “BOMBS” — Sen. Jim DeMint is calling on conservatives to “stop Specter the defector” by donating to Pennsylvania Republican challenger Pat Toomey as the first anniversary of Sen. Arlen Specter’s switch to the Democratic Party approaches.  The South Carolina Republican’s political action committee, the Senate Conservatives Fund, has set up a website, www.repealspecter.com, for DeMint supporters to deliver a “money bomb” to Toomey between Friday and April 28.
-CBS is peddling a story that one of the possible contenders for the Supreme Court is gay. The White House says it ain't so. Like it matters.

-Dalia Lithwick, who is right up there with Lyle Denniston when it comes to reporters who understand the Supreme Court, finds liberal law students have no role models.

-Andrew Sullivan, commenting on the President's order allowing same-sex couples hospital access when one is ill, says, "You'd have to have a heart of stone not to applaud the president's attempt to ensure that gay spouses have access to one another in hospital settings." And one SC blogger gleefully admits he does. All while peddling what a big Christian he is.

-The US Senate has voted to condemn an idea.

-US Senate Republicans are set to announce they are now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wall Street banks.
