Military men make the best state leaders, except when they serve other purposes

Savonarola wants a man-on-horseback state in South Carolina.

He professes to know nothing about the current Folks-Haley business. Know-Nothingism is his business, after all.

But for such a moralist to endorse Henry McMaster for governor- whose right hand man- in his 60s was found in a car in a graveyard in the middle of the night with a barely legal female pole dancer, a bunch of sex toys and Viagra- well, he's way more flexible about morals than his readings would suggest.

And how does McMaster get a pass on having not served in the military? He was in college during Vietnam and the draft.
