Senator Jim DeMint's one of twelve sitting senators holding a fundraiser for twice-failed Washington gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi.
In a move that surely further chills DeMint's glacial heart, Rossi's runs seminars telling rich people how to make money flipping poor people's foreclosed homes.
Jennifer Morris, a spokeswoman for Rossi, said there was no conflict between Rossi's criticism of "politics as usual" and the support he's drawing from longtime lawmakers.
...South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, whose Senate Conservatives Fund PAC has shuttled money to insurgent Senate candidates in several key races, will be present at the Washington fundraiser.
Matt Hoskins, a spokesman for DeMint's PAC, said the senator's appearance didn't indicate that he was endorsing Rossi. Hoskins said DeMint had been "very impressed" by Rossi, and considers the race on his "watch list."
...Rossi's chief Republican rival is former NFL player Clint Didier, who told POLITICO he had sought a meeting with DeMint during a visit to the capital this week but "it never transpired." Hoskins said Didier and DeMint met at the CPAC conference earlier this year.
