Gov. Mark Sanford is on a trade mission to Europe to leverage Boeing Co.'s record-breaking investment in South Carolina and transform the state into an international aerospace hub.
The governor, in one of his last official acts, will attend the Farnborough International Airshow outside London next week with a cadre of South Carolina political and business leaders.Curiously, Senator Lindsey Graham will be tagging along, but not Senator Jim DeMint. DeMint's name was conspicuously missing from the state press release announcing Boeing's decision to open an airplane interior fittings shop in North Charleston.
Do DeMint and Graham divvy up economic development portfolios? Or is this a really big example of DeMint's claim that not much he does as a Senator is for South Carolina.
