FITSy's the latest to try holding two opposing thoughts in mind at the same time: they are against companies leaving SC (in this case, UPS, which they rumormonger will close up shop in Columbia because Amazon's pulled the plug on a box-and-ship-box) at the same time they are against any incentives to attract or keep them in the state.

The advantage to whingeing about government "picking winners and losers" in economic development is that members of the chattering class in Columbia can claim to wrest that power from the state and decide it based on private preferences.

The private sector always knows best, even when it knows no more than anybody else.
