The Cherokee County coroner says he needs more room to store dead bodies.
The Spartanburg Herald-Journal reported that Coroner Dennis Fowler thinks he may have found just the place - a cooler once used by a gourmet business in Gaffney.
Fowler currently shares cooler space with Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney. He says only two drawers are available. He says if the hospital is using them or if there is a mass casualty event, he would have to send bodies to Spartanburg.
The county has an offer of a cooler once used by the gourmet retailer Harry and David for $1,500. Fowler says it could store 10 bodies. A new cooler could cost about $9,000.
