Hollywood's conservative ghetto

     Recently The Garnet Spy got kinda Darwinian about the natural superiority of conservatives:

          CPAC also emphasizes how striking it is that there are so  many conservative political rock stars.  Liberals don’t have philosophical rock stars; they have to go to Hollywood to get people who pretend for a living to shill for them. Actors and actresses – who depend on scriptwriters to tell them what to say and directors to tell them how to say it – come out in masses to support President Teleprompter.

 

      It's an interesting old chestnut. If Hollywood didn't exist, Republicans would have had to invent it to denounce it.

     But when it comes to people who pretend to a living to shill for them, it strikes me the pot's about as black as the kettle. A few names, as I was walking down the street the other day, came to mind: Fred Grandy (Maude, The Match Game, The Love Boat; congressman 1987-95; candidate for Iowa governor 1994); George Murphy (song and dance movie actor, 1934-50; California US senator 1965-71); Arnold Schwarzenegger (bodybuilder, actor, governor of California 2003-11); Kelsey Grammer (Frasier, An American Carol; Michelle Bachmann endorser); Dennis Miller (comedian, Fox news talk host, Bill O'Reilly's Mini-Me); Jon Voight (actor, Teabagger, Romney endorser, Fox News fave); Charlton Heston ('nuff said); Stephen Baldwin (less, said, the better); and, from usconservatives.com, this further list:
