Except The Leader never gets glorified.

Maybe it's just me, but conservative art preferences remind me a lot of the styles in vogue in Germany and the Soviet Union, say, 1935-45:

Behold the latest painting by our generation’s conservative Norman Rockwell, Jon McNaughton.
“One Nation Under Socialism” depicts the president glaring devilishly as he holds a flaming copy of the Constitution. The painting would be especially inviting in an entryway or living room.
McNaughton was previously known for his most famous work, “The Forgotten Man.”
In a YouTube video explaining the meaning behind “One Nation Under Socialism,” McNaughton narrates as the sound of flames crackle in the background:
I painted a picture of Barack Obama. This is my pledge: I pledge allegiance to the United States of America and not to an ideology which can never stand. One nation under socialism, divisive, with no liberty or justice for anyone. This November you will make a choice. Will you choose one nation under socialism?
Fox News host Sean Hannity has already snatched up the original portrait for an undisclosed sum. McNaughton told BuzzFeed that he suspects the two other originals will sell for six figures.
Reproductions of the painting are going for $59 to $345, depending on the size and frame.

You show me a person who would put this up in an entryway or living room and consider it "inviting," and I'll show you a person I'm going to stay far, far away from.

Maybe my eyesight is going, but it looks like a brown grocery bag burning, not the Constitution. Maybe it's a bag holding the Constitution. Whatever it is, it's of a quality that would rate a C-minus in an 12th grade art class.

  2. If it's a bag, maybe it's a flaming blivet, to be left on the nation's doorstep...
