South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy was unharmed after a woman
pulled a gun on the freshman congressman in the parking lot of his
hometown Spartanburg, S.C., church on Sunday night.
A little before 8 p.m. Sunday, Gowdy was approached by a woman who
pointed a gun at him and demanded that he stop following her, WSPA reported.
Gowdy explained to the woman — identified by authorities as
52-year-old Gloria Yvonne Brackett of Georgia — that he was not
following her but waiting for a family member.
The congressman then drove away unscathed, as Brackett chased after him on foot.
Gowdy drove straight to the police department, according to WSPA, and was able to retrieve his daughter with a police escort.
Mug shot here.
