The central theme- repeated ad nauseam- of Senator Jim DeMint's 2012 Book, Now Or Never: Saving America From Economic Collapse, is this: Democrats are un-American, liars, thieves and unworthy of election to Congress. Republicans are virtuous, thrifty, and hate government so much only they should be entrusted to run it.
In his Introduction: A Call to Action, DeMint declared, at page xix,
We are in serious trouble and very close to economic collapse. This is not hyperbole; Americans have never been this close to losing all the freedom, prosperity and opportunity that generations of citizens and soldiers have fought and died to give us.
So when the US Senate was called to act after the Republican majority in the US House of Representatives could not execute its Constitutional mandate to stop the tax hike suicide pact they gleefully enacted not so long ago, DeMint's Great Shining Moment seemed to have arrived. And when Waldo went to the US Senate website to behold the moment, on December 28, 2012- DeMint's moment, America's moment, freedom's moment- this is what he found on the vote to pass H.R. 8, as amended:
