"Why, some of my best friends are [fill in the blank]

From TPM, applause for one who recognizes that Clarence Thomas is, as folks used to say, a credit to his race:

Oklahoma state Rep. Mike Ritze (R) seemed to forget Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' name, and instead referred to him as "the black judge" in an interview for an MSNBC piece on abortion restrictions in Oklahoma.  

"Maybe as we see more Republicans, there will be fewer and fewer liberal judges appointed," Ritze said while explaining how the state judiciary might change the course of abortion law. "More of what we call the original intent-type of judge. Your Anton [sic] Scalias and your judge – the black judge, the Supreme Court judge."
