One of the questions anti-marriage equality advocates get squirmy about is this: what will you do about couples who have already gotten married?
Unmarry them?
One dog-whistle response seems to be, religious freedom them to death until their marriages are back in the closet, where they belong.
Other than that...anything?
Alabama is a good place to pose the question. From February 9 to March 3, 545 couples married there.
