79 year-old James Dobson, who has made a very good living for decades, sewing division over abortion and gay rights in America, is shedding crocodile tears over the prospect of new opportunities for the same sort of cynical- if profitable- opportunism. Dobson, who founded the homophobe groups Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, Family Talk, and Alliance Defending Freedom, opposes any civil rights for gay Americans, and argues in his books on child-rearing that the Duchess in Alice in Wonderland was right:
Speak roughly to your little boy
and beat him when he sneezes
he only does it to annoy
because he knows it teases.
