And then there were 16

MSNBC is reporting Rick Perry has dropped out of the presidential race.

He spent a total of 307 days running for president- twice- in the 2011-15 period, and raised $37 million.

Perry moves ahead of the late Governor John Connally, as the state's biggest presidential flop. In 1980, Connally spent $11 million to win one presidential delegate in the 1980 Republican primaries- $33.6 million in 2015 dollars.

Perry got no delegates, and blew the hell out of a very respectable reputation as an effective governor.
