You can sit out the "religious freedom" fight, but at your peril.

As I have warned before, the religious liberty restoration law movement is not just a fad among right wing cranks. It is a means for anyone to declare himself above andy law, any time.

Here's the latest example:
Loyola University, a Catholic university in Chicago, is opposing a union drive among its contingent academic workers. On the grounds that it would violate the university’s First Amendment religious liberty...In the name of the First Amendment, in the name of a religious freedom to be Catholic and to follow Catholic teachings, Loyola claims the right not to be Catholic and to suspend Catholic teachings.
