How to be better-informed: a case study

Here's an exercise in long-form journalism for you, and if you care about the #AltFacts triumph, it's worth taking time to read and watch.

First, here's Wil Hylton's August New York Times magazine article on Breitbart News (which, if you aren't, you oughta be reading every day). The article months to write. It's 9000 words long.

It's brilliant.

After that, meet the author. Brian Lamb, the amazing book interviewer of C-SPAN, had Hylton on Q&A this past weekend.

Hylton is remarkably bright and articulate, and Lamb is one of the best interviewers of the last half-century.

In this life, there's skimming Facebook and there's reading, watching, and thinking.  The latter is harder.

It's also vital.
