Southerners are funny this way. What's Roy Moore doing reading an LGBT news magazine? Or knowing anyone who does, or who knows where to buy one, or who is willing to be seen doing so?
My mother insisted she read The Advocate too, bless her heart, just as she insisted she did so have gay friends.
Being well-raised, no one asked her why all her gay friends were people she paid to do things for her, or why the first five years her son was out she spoke and looked at the floor when addressing him, then just didn't speak with him at all the next- and last- seventeen years of her life.
