Declare every public school a golf school and the SC GOP will claw back Boeing money for school support

Palmetto Morning highlights one of the oddities of SC governance: we can starve our schools, but we can always find a few mil for a golf tourney:

HOLE IN ONE M — A day after Hilton Head Island committed as much as $1 million for the Heritage golf tournament if the PGA Tour event can’t find a title sponsor for 2011, Beaufort County moved toward a similar pledge. On a 6-1 vote, County Council’s Finance Committee asked staff Wednesday to draft a proposal that would provide as much as $1 million to the foundation that runs the tournament.
