Use attack words carefully, and when used, back them up

Takedowntheflag.com has a good point: just as Godwin's Law flatlined some ago time about when it comes to equating people you disagree with with Nazis the new line of attack is to call people racists.

Some indeed are. But if the claim's going to be made it needs to be documented.

Otherwise the moral force of such terms is drained of meaning.

Besides all of which, conservative media has learned long since how to pivot such claims and make themselves the victims. Witness Limbaugh's rant the other day, crocodile tears pouring from his eyes, that the House Democratic leadership is made up of "white racists"- a term Senator Robert Byrd sometimes invoked in his senescence- because they were trying to "deny" Congressman James Clyburn a role in the downsized minority House leadership team.

We leave for another day the all white country club crowd Speaker-elect Boehner will bring with him. Take Down The Flag's Point is a good one. Alas, little good it will do him in this state.

  1. Thanks for the shout out. And your point is spot on: "[Conservative media has learned long since how to pivot such claims and make themselves the victims." That's their favorite tool in their tool belt.
