How To Lie Badly.

The Arizona Republic, October 25, 2017:

"Look, he [Senator Jeff Flake] was against me from before he ever knew me," Trump told reporters. "He wrote a book about me before I ever met him, before I ever heard his name. "

Vanity Fair, October 25, 2017:

“Long before he ever knew me, during the campaign, even before the campaign, he came out with his horrible book. And I said, ‘Who is this guy?’” Trump said, referring to Conscience of a Conservative, which Flake published in August of 2017...“The first time I saw him on television, I said, ‘I assume he’s a Democrat.’”

...Trump also seemed to forget—moments after claiming to have “one of the greatest memories of all time”—that he and Flake had met as early as July 2016, when the senator publicly questioned the then-candidate in front of the Senate Republicans.

The Arizona Republic, July 7, 2016:

Flake was among a number of senators who met privately with Trump on Thursday. According to the Washington Post, Trump went to his usual playbook and threatened to start attacking Flake for daring to criticize him.

“You’ve been very critical of me,” Trump said when Flake introduced himself.

“Yes, I’m the other senator from Arizona — the one who didn’t get captured — and I want to talk to you about statements like that,” the Post reports that Flake replied, relying on accounts from two Republican officials.

Flake was, of course, referring to Trump’s slam on Sen. John McCain, when he insisted that McCain wasn’t a war hero and, in his best presidential fashion, announced, “I like people who weren’t captured.”

Unbelievably, McCain has endorsed Trump.

Flake, however, has not -- a fact that apparently rankles the presumptive Republican nominee.

Trump reportedly threatened to attack Flake and predicted that Flake would lose his re-election bid. Flake responded by telling Trump that he isn't on the ballot this year and suggested that Trump stop attacking Mexicans.
