With only a week left before the Summer Olympics begin and much of the campaigning for White House grounds to a halt in preparation for the conventions, Republican John McCain launched a rockin’ new tune to cash in on a few quick headlines.
The new campaign theme song was written by country music star John Rich and unveiled Friday night at a free “Country First” outdoor concert in Panama City, Fla...
“...I’m sure Johnny Cash would have been a John McCain supporter if he was still around,” Rich told the crowd before opening with Cash’s hit “Walk the Line.” McCain later pulled up in the Straight Talk Express and gave a brief speech to the crowd.
“He stayed strong, stayed extra long til’ they let all the other boys out,” the song says, focusing on n the 5 and a half years McCain spent in Vietnam prison of war camp. “Now we’ve got a real man with an American plan, we’re going to put him in the big White House.”
Perhaps this is McCain’s attempt to balance out Democrat Barack Obama’s “celeb” factor. If so, this is great because I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in saying I would take Big & Rich over Rosie O’Donnell or Susan Sarandon any day.

Cash was a famous liberal who believed in the “jesus as a liberal” philosophy. I really wish people supporting politicians on both sides would stop using endorsements from dead people.
Of course, Big Kenny is supporting Obama, and that big ol’ kickoff concert consisted of about 500 people.
So I guess you would take John Rich over Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel too?
That figures.
No wonder you’re so concerned about more gays in South Carolina. You can’t stand the competition.
Micah,
First, I never said I would take John Rich over Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel. In terms of endorsements or music I would still take Rich, in terms of pretty much everything else, one of the latter two.
Second, I have trouble taking anyone seriously whose bellwether for male straightness is Rosie O’Donnell and Susan Sarandon.
Third, I’m not the one on video screaming like a little girl over a baby bat, so you should probably keep the not-so-veiled accusations that I’m gay to yourself, sister.
Thanks for playing,
