That part's funny enough.
But even funnier is his latest justification- an undocumented claim that he opposed the SC constitutional amendment on marriage in 2006.
From a political standpoint, though, we are very much in favor of gay rights. In fact, we have been in favor of gay rights for years, dating back to our opposition to the SCGOP’s Get Out The Vote … err, Defense of Marriage referendum four years ago, which sought to exploit Republican distaste for homosexuals into electoral gold.
That was pretty progressive of us, right?
Wrong, according to Lydecker – who blasts us daily (and we mean daily) for our flaming homophobia. Seriously, almost everything we write, Lydecker has a post devoted to it.
Look, we hate to go all Nathan Jessup on this guy’s ass (he’d probably prefer us to go all Nathan Cox in his ass), but damn dude … if you’re going to pick a fight with somebody, why not go after the real homophobes in this state? Or for that matter all the gay politicians who refuse to come out of the closet?
Bottom line, you need us on that wall, Waldo.
Coupla thoughts:
1) for all his ability to promote himself, it looks like if he opposed the marriage amendment he did it in silence. Can't find a mention of it.
2) 2006 was four years ago. What have you done since, Fitsy? All we've seen is gay-baiting posts with a disclaimer that all the insults are just in good fun, or that the imaginary friend Mande posted them.
For a political consultant who makes a chunk of his living working for a party whose elected reps and candidates are all cheerfully homophobic, we're not seeing the love he claims. Much less standing up to anybody about anything on the subject.
For example, where's he been heard on the high school domestic abuse bill that applies only to straight kids? That's going on right now.
