SC ETV and ETV Radio are having a major fail this evening, just after extracting another boatload of cash from the supporters of their "exceptional service."
ETV's had a still photo of a frog up for the last half hour, and radio is off entirely.
ETV really needs to be sold for scrap. Most of the state can get North Carolina public television, and on the Internet you can listen to public radio from anywhere.
I hate their self-congratulatory fundraising spiel as much as anyone, but the system is exactly what it's allowed to be. (Another fiefdom for the political class in this state.) There's a long history of legislative interference and even jihad in some cases.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a quibble: the money they raise pays for programming , not infrastructure, where I presume the failure lies.
Lastly: Really, Waldo? "Let them eat cake"? You're extrapolating too broadly from your own relatively privileged situation.
Contrary to your assertion, I can't pick up NC public television from my north midlands location. Nor do I have broadband Internet access for public radio.
That being said, I understand that the experience of listening to SCETV-radio can be very trying.
In spite of the tone of this comment, I enjoy your blog and check in regularly.
