Spin it off

SC Governor Haley, whose inaugural address sounded like an eighth grader rushing through a book report, stumbled through her first State of the Stare Address with another plate of platitudes. Addressing an $829m deficit, she called for eliminating the state arts commission and public broadcasting, which only leaves $809m to go but left the mouthbreathers and lip movers in her party happy as all get out.

I've been as critical as anybody of SCETV but the answer isn't to kill it off- privatize it instead.

Sell it to a college or university, or spin it off as a nonprofit.

Look at the really good public broadcasting systems in American states. They are not state agencies broadcasting snow work delays and closures to state workers like a high school intercom. They actually try to be good. They don't run ads about how good they are today based on programming they did forty years ago. They don't brag about one-minute fillers about snails. They don't fill their weekend dance cards with ancient Britcoms that make their elderly contributor base happy.

Above all, they don't shill for used cars and mentions in old people's wills.
