Remember all the panic in Columbia about Hispanic illegals taking over the economy in South Carolina?
Well, in 2011 the legislature passed one of those laws beloved of Teabaggers everywhere, to get those wetbacks under control and out of state.
It worked.
Here's what the BBC found:
The region's economy has since been paying the price in empty apartments and less demand for low-wage jobs. But none have struggled more than the 6,000 Hispanic-owned businesses that heavily depend on customers from its community.
