They thought a phone bank is where you deposit your rollover minutes

Herman Cain staffers Gingrich has absorbed are discovering the only thing their former and current CEOs of Self have in common is adultery- and running chaotic, debt-ridden campaigns:

There is Newt and Callista’s Excellent Adventure, an upbeat and defiantly unconventional bid that is as much a bon vivant’s American tour as it is a White House run: guided tours of zoos and museums, Friday lunch at New Orleans’ Galatoires and detours off the trail to take in Washington’s early-blooming cherry blossoms and a long French dinner in Adams-Morgan.
That cheery, DIY effort masks a different campaign, one that is slowly expiring in all the usual ways of terminal campaigns at the end-stage: Cash is running low, supporters are griping about not getting paid and aides are valiantly trying to convince themselves as much as the press that, really, there is a path forward...
“They never build any structure to live past the next state,” complained one GOP strategist who advised Gingrich in one key state earlier this year. “They’d go to the next state and have to reinvent the wheel.”
So scores of yard signs got sent to Michigan even though Gingrich never even played there. Phone banks didn’t get set up in South Carolina until days before the primary...
Amy Sutherly, an Ohio-based Republican, traveled to South Carolina and Florida to volunteer for Gingrich.
“I was brought down to South Carolina because I know how to run phone banks,” explained Sutherly, also a former Cain backer. Following Gingrich’s Palmetto State win, she drove to Florida and ran Gingrich’s office in Jacksonville.
She got one reimbursement check before the Sunshine State’s Jan. 31 primary but is still waiting on a second one for about $700 that she requested after Florida.
“All I’m told is it’s being processed,” said Sutherly. “I keep emailing.”
Sutherly, whose email address name is “ohiowithnewt,” emphasized that she still supports Gingrich and voted for him on Super Tuesday.

He loves zoos.
