The Montagnards start lining up the tumbrels in DC:

Senior House Republicans are preparing for a lawmaker to offer a motion that would force candidates for leadership to resign other elected leadership posts, according to multiple sources involved in planning.

The move would most squarely impact House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), who is running in a competitive race for majority leader. Scalise is already facing Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) for the No. 2 slot in House GOP leadership. Rep. Trey Gowdy's (R-S.C.) friends say he is also considering a bid.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) would be forced to resign as House majority leader, but he is widely expected to win his bid for speaker of the House.

The House Freedom Caucus has discussed this motion, and many of its members are supportive.
