Outraged gay Trump supporters reject Charlotte Pride float spot they're still raising $100,000 to get in court; President Trump continues Twitter silent treatment toward Brian Talbert's Deplorable Pride.

Brian Talbert, the outraged Albemarle, NC gay Republican whose deplorable- upper and lower case- float was rejected for the Charlotte Pride parade, needs a proofreader for his press releases, the latest posted by Spectrum Cable News.
Deplorable Pride started as a small group.
...“Now everybody want's to be a part of all this,” co-founder Brian Talbert said.
Since threatening legal action against Charlotte Pride, it's reach has grown. Appearing on Fox News, CNN and major conservative websites like Drudge Report.
"Major conservative news sites" is not singular, of course, and a search of the Drudge site came up "0" for stories mentioning "Brian Talbert"; The Drudge Report Facebook page carries a story copied from The Washington Post).

Talbert's "everybody" is so expansive, it included two- count 'em!- two new donors for his litigation beg at GoFundMe.com over the last day. They gave $10 each for his $100,000 war chest for something: no one really knows what. He used to say it was to sue Charlotte Pride to make them take his float, but in this story he's changed his story:
Deplorable Pride said it would decline being the parade at this point, and is hoping sponsors feel the same.
“I would like for them to get the opportunity to pull out on their own and give them a chance to do that,” Talbert said. “But if not, I want them to see that there's a backing behind us."
Team Talbert, who have a glaring problem with apostrophes ("Charlotte Pride Parade's presenting sponsor is Well's Fargo"), get a little more shrill every day as their $100,000 pyramid scheme shrinks into laughability (Roger Ebert's story of Squeaky the Chicago Mouse comes to mind).

The other occupant of the phone booth hosting Deplorable Pride's meetings is proving a lot like his idol, the President: the more he talks, the worse he makes things.

So here he complains,
“[Charlotte Pride’s rejection sends] a signal that it's okay to discriminate. It's okay to exclude people,” Deplorable Pride co-founder Derek Van Cleve said. “If you're not, 'the right kind of gay', then you can’t participate."
If you try to parse the Talbert/Van Cleve logic, they run a group that divides the LGBT world into good Republicans and bad liberals. But it's wrong to keep them out of a club they ridicule themselves, as members of a minority the Republican Party will not recognize despite Talbert's insistence that the GOP is the true home of gay Americans, and whose President refuses to recognize the event Talbert wants into so badly.

Getting one-offs from a handful of media outlets does not a movement make. If it did, the President would be tweeting the hell out of Brian Talbert's cause.

Blogger Joe.My.God backstops Charlotte Pride's concerns over safety with this nugget:
You may recall that the husband of Gays For Trump founder Peter Boykin was caught on camera celebrating after he physically assaulted an anti-Trump protester at an October 2016 Trump rally in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Here's the press release Spectrum ran for Talbot (BTW, they have 257 Facebook follows):

Pride Parade Sponsors Face Potential Boycott Over Trump Float Rejection

CHARLOTTE -- Deplorable Pride started as a small group.

“Now everybody want's to be a part of all this,” co-founder Brian Talbert said.

Since threatening legal action against Charlotte Pride, it's reach has grown. Appearing on Fox News, CNN and major conservative websites like Drudge Report.

Deplorable Pride is now using that audience to threaten a boycott of all Charlotte Pride Sponsors, including Wells Fargo, PNC Bank, and Bank of America, if they don't withdraw support of Charlotte Pride.

“We're showing that they're supporting an organization now that is... allowing gays to exclude other gays,” Talbert said.

This is a response to Charlotte Pride Parade rejecting Deplorable Pride's pro-Trump float concept.

Deplorable Pride joined up with “Stop the Scalping and mediaequalizer.com to encourage parade sponsors to pull out.

“[Charlotte Pride’s rejection sends] a signal that it's okay to discriminate. It's okay to exclude people,” Deplorable Pride co-founder Derek Van Cleve said. “If you're not, 'the right kind of gay', then you can’t participate."

“I don't understand what their aim is other than to cause a controversy,” interim Executive Director of Equality NC Matt Hirschy said. He agrees with the decision to exclude a pro-Trump float, believing it would only create conflict.

“I would personally be concerned with the safety of everybody involved if the Trump group would have been included,” Hirschy said.

Deplorable Pride said it would decline being the parade at this point, and is hoping sponsors feel the same.

“I would like for them to get the opportunity to pull out on their own and give them a chance to do that,” Talbert said. “But if not, I want them to see that there's a backing behind us."

Charlotte Pride responded with a statement that reads it initially rejected the application when it mistook Deplorable Pride for another pro-Trump LGBT group.

But after looking into the members of Deplorable Pride they, "considered several concerns regarding the safety of our event attendees when denying this application."

Charlotte Pride Parade's presenting sponsor is Well's Fargo. Officials said, "We have stood together with the LGBT community for 30 years and we remain committed to delivering thoughtful and strategic support to the community in the future."

Complete statement from Charlotte Pride’s Board of Directors:

“Charlotte Pride envisions a world in which LGBTQ people are affirmed, respected, and included in the full social and civic life of their local communities, free from fear of any discrimination, rejection, and prejudice.

As an organization which values diversity and inclusion, we welcome all groups which reflect our mission, vision and values and which believe in the human rights and equality of all people, including those in our community who are among the most marginalized, especially transgender people, immigrants, refugees and people of color.

With regard to specific inquiries on the Gays For Trump/Deplorable Pride parade float: As a non-partisan, non-profit organization, the decision to deny the application was made on several non-partisan grounds. The Gays For Trump application was initially denied because of that organization's history of public comments and stances disparaging entire groups of people, including transgender people, people of color and immigrants. We have since learned that the application was submitted on false pretenses by Deplorable Pride, a group not affiliated with Gays For Trump and whose organization's name did not appear on the application, but whose leaders have also publicly espoused hostile and disparaging stances toward members of the larger LGBTQ community. Finally, we considered several concerns regarding the safety of our event attendees when denying this application.

In the past, Charlotte Pride has denied participation at our events to other organizations which do not align to our organization's mission, vision and values. Charlotte Pride reserves the right to decline participation at our events to any group, as is acknowledged by all parade and vendor applicants at the time of their application.

Charlotte Pride encourages all individuals and organizations who share our mission, vision and values to participate in the annual Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade on Aug. 26-27, 2017.”

Complete Statement from Wells Fargo:

“I can share with that since 1992, celebrating LGBT Pride has been a part of Wells Fargo’s larger commitment to diversity and inclusion. This year we are participating in over 60 Pride celebrations across the country, both in large cities and small towns. We are proud of our long, consistent commitment to the LGBT community in Charlotte. Participating in its annual Pride parade provides us an opportunity to support and engage our Charlotte-based team members and customers. We have stood together with the LGBT Community for 30 years and we remain committed to delivering thoughtful and strategic support to the community in the future.”
