What Fresh Hell this weekend? Family values are on deep discount, it seems

Protect the human rights of all refugees and migrants, regardless of status. This includes the rights of women and girls and promoting their full, equal and meaningful participation in finding solutions.

Ensure that all refugee and migrant children are receiving education within a few months of arrival.

Prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence.

Support those countries rescuing, receiving and hosting large numbers of refugees and migrants.
Work towards ending the practice of detaining children for the purposes of determining their migration status.

Strongly condemn xenophobia against refugees and migrants and support a global campaign to counter it.

Strengthen the positive contributions made by migrants to economic and social development in their host countries.

Improve the delivery of humanitarian and development assistance to those countries most affected, including through innovative multilateral financial solutions, with the goal of closing all funding gaps.

Implement a comprehensive refugee response, based on a new framework that sets out the responsibility of Member States, civil society partners and the UN system, whenever there is a large movement of refugees or a protracted refugee situation.

Find new homes for all refugees identified by UNHCR as needing resettlement; and expand the opportunities for refugees to relocate to other countries through, for example, labour mobility or education schemes.

Strengthen the global governance of migration by bringing the International Organization for Migration into the UN system.

In aid of the whitewashing, Miss World was trotted out:

“America is proud of our immigrant heritage and our long-standing moral leadership in providing support to migrant and refugee populations across the globe,” U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley said in a statement Saturday. “But our decisions on immigration policies must always be made by Americans and Americans alone. We will decide how best to control our borders and who will be allowed to enter our country. The global approach in the New York Declaration is simply not compatible with U.S. sovereignty.”

America’s Hamburglar is getting his first kiss and tell book:

And Trump’s appetite seems to know no bounds when it comes to McDonald’s, with a dinner order consisting of “two Big Macs, two Fillet-O-Fish, and a chocolate malted.”

Another account elaborates:

A dinner of that size would offer caloric energy for a full day. The 3,400 milligrams of sodium more than doubles the American Heart Association’s recommendation of 1,500 milligrams per day. The meal provides almost no fiber—and also offers more white bread than anyone would do well to eat in a week. This is all ominous for the president’s cardiovascular system.

So is the lack of variety. The book’s authors, who traveled with Trump early in his presidency, write: “On Trump Force One there were four major food groups: McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken, pizza, and Diet Coke.”

Keeping the Coke sugar-free is an interesting line to draw—especially as a man who once said, “I have never seen a thin person drink Diet Coke.”

The food enters the President not only in abundance, but with haste. Ivanka Trump said in a 2015 interview with Barbara Walters, “I wish he would eat healthier and maybe slow down. Sometimes I tell him, like, ‘Oh, you have to, you know, slow down.’ But it’s the only speed he knows ...”

All of this could be taken as simple evidence of Trump’s cultural vacuousness. He should know other speeds; he has dined with other people. He should enjoy a wide array of foods; he has been afforded the opportunity to have anything he wants.

If there’s other insight to be had in gawking at these food habits—and I can’t promise that there is—it may be related to the fact that Trump is at the earliest end of the Baby Boomers. He came up in a time when packaged food was the height of civilization. Uniformity and predictability in a burger or a fish sandwich was a virtue, not an eerie flaw.

The Post describes the plane’s cupboards as being “stacked with Vienna Fingers, potato chips, pretzels, and many packages of Oreos” because the president is a “renowned germaphobe” who declines to eat from a previously opened package. This may also be the rationale for eating his steaks well-done.

Meantime, MOTUS says Flynn’s Flip means nothing because it doesn’t prove collusion with Russians. Never mind that four of Trump’s inner circle are now under indictment or have pled guilty to felonies, and his entire senior staff is lawyered up.

#GhostofNixonFuture comes to mind.

"The President is not planning any trip to Alabama at this time," White House press secretary Sarah Sanders had told reporters at Monday's press briefing. "Frankly, his schedule doesn't permit him doing anything between now and Election Day."

The *resident will hold a Moore campaign rally in Pensacola- 20 miles over the state line- four days before the Alabama election.

John McCain, Jeff Flake, Jeff Corker, Susan Murkowski, Susan Collins, and the other Consciences of the GOP are all frauds.

They are principled as all get-out- as long as it costs nothing. Well, not to them.

Senator McConnell, after blowing a trillion-dollar hole in the federal budget for the next ten years, says his Middle Class Tax Cut will actually be a tax increase:

“I not only don’t think it will increase the deficit, I think it will be beyond revenue neutral,” he told reporters. “In other words, I think it will produce more than enough to fill that gap.”

If you have the misfortune to be at a mass shooting, give no interviews. Conspiracists will reduce your life to rubble.

Our moralizing betters in public life continue bearing the burden of being superior in a land of sloth and depravity:

-Being a Christian- and pretending victimhood, is SOP for American conservatives. In Congress, the rotten borough capital of the world, there are more ostentatious God-botherers per square foot than anywhere but Alabama. Just don’t challenge their beliefs. They only read The Good News, Jesus is a Republican Bible.

Besides, asking bakers to serve The Gays defies God.

-Church members who, for the most part, oppose federal aid after disasters, want their congregations to get their piece of the federal aid they will now get the freedom to fund and endorse candidates pledged to end that aid. Thus does the theocracy advance.

-Brock Turner, who made sexual assault disgusting without being a celebrity, then got to be one by getting caught, is back and spoiling for more.

Gen Xers are turning out to be as louche as their Boomer parents, while getting all conservative when that benefits them:

Hillsong NYC pastor and author of the new book Own the Moment was recently asked about his numerous tattoos, and told World Religion News that Old Testament scriptures prohibiting them no longer apply and are often taken out of context.

Lentz is 39. He has a 9000-member New York megachurch. He says abortion is a sin and that Leviticus is a buffet line from that gives free passes on hipster haircuts and tattoos, but every diner has to get a plateful of homophobia.

-Matt Lauer’s wife has decamped to visit family in Holland. She previously filed to divorce Lauer in 2006.

-Don Blankenship, a West Virginia coal magnate who spent a year in prison after an explosion in one of his mines killed more miners than any disaster in four decades, will run for the US Senate in 2018.

As a Republican.

It’s a good thing he is rich. He will need a major media campaign or the first candidate hologram:

Blankenship will likely have a difficult time campaigning throughout the state. As part of his conditions of supervision, he cannot leave the state of Nevada, where he moved this summer, without permission from his probation officer or a federal judge. Blankenship’s supervision ends in May, two days after the Republican primary.

But we will know December 13 whether Blankster’s received as a moral paragon compared to Alabama’s next senator, Roy Moore (Slate reports the Senate GOP Caucus is already testing messages to welcome Moore, too):

U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore gave a campaign speech Wednesday night in which he blamed LGBT people and socialists for the allegations that he engaged in sexual misconduct with teenage girls, and in which two hecklers were escorted out.

"They're liberals. They don't hold conservative values," the Alabama Republican said of his opponents, according to ABC News, CNN, and other outlets. "They are the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender who want to change our culture. They are socialists who want to change our way of life and put man above God and [believe] the government is our God. They are the Washington establishment. They want to keep everything the same so they don't lose their position, power, and prestige.”

Moore, the deeply anti-LGBT former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, further said he made enemies in handling drug cases as a prosecuting attorney, and these people are also at "the heart of this conspiracy" against him.

The GOP Senate nominee, who is running for office despite numerous allegations that he sought relationships with teenage girls as an adult, held a Wednesday event at Magnolia Springs Baptist Church in Mobile. There, Rev. Bill Atkinson led singing, AL.com reports. Alabamians may remember him for his 2012 conviction for obstruction and conspiracy. A federal jury found him guilty for interfering in an investigation into his son. The younger Atkinson, William IV, was charged in Honduras for molesting children at family-run orphanage.

Conservative radio commentator Alex Jones went on a bizarre rant this week in which he accused liberal lesbians of wanting to physically abuse women.

“Most of the so-called liberal lesbians, they just wanna have the guy with the duck’s ass haircut and the James Dean outfit,” Jones said.

“They want to be slapping girls around, and statistically it shows it.” He did not specify which statistics.

“I’m not blaming all lesbians, but it shows that most of these butch lesbians, they want to be the guy smacking the hot chick around. They think that’s manly,” he continued.

He said that women actually want to be domestic violence victims. Men, though, refuse to abuse their intimate partners, so straight women look for lesbians who are willing to hit them.

“A lot of the chicks, they like it. Because no man will do that to them, and I’m not saying it’s good if a man does that, but some women like it. If they can’t find a man to smack them around, well they found them a girl gonna do it real good, knock them upside their head.”

Jones went on to accuse these lesbians of eating their victims’ brains. “They want to strap you down and take a buzz saw and cut the top of your head off like a pumpkin and pull it off and get a little spoon and go, looking in the mirror, ‘I’m gonna eat your brain now!’”

He then did an impression of the brain-eating lesbians: “I’m gonna eat your cerebral cortex last! I’ve got power! I love Satan! And I’m gonna suck you dry and I’m gonna torture you to death. And you’re gonna follow my liberal orders!”

Going vegan is not an option:

-A former Republican state senator who chaired MOTUS’ Oklahoma GOP primary campaign pled guilty to child sex trafficking the other day. Ralph Shortey, a strident gay basher whose colleagues considered him loony even by Sooner standards, asked the court to grant him bail because his four kids are homeschooled.
