Please. God, make it so
Former Rep. Tom Tancredo delivered a stark ultimatum to the two Republican candidates for governor in Colorado Thursday: If you're trailing in the general election polls the day after the primary and don't drop out, I'll jump in.
The former congressman and presidential candidate said he wants pledges from GOP candidates Scott McInnis and Dan Maes by Monday to withdraw from the race if they are behind presumptive Democratic nominee John Hickenlooper in public polling on Aug. 11.
If not, Tancredo said he'll pursue a candidacy on the American Constitution Party line because it has ballot access.
The nomination of weak candidates by Republicans is the single greatest threat to their possibly retaking the majority in the House of Representatives. Something similar is happening with Rand Paul in KY and Sharron Angle in NV. The House is still an easier climb for the GOP than the Senate, but I envision a scenario in which the GOP's gains are limited to 20-25 seats in the House and maybe 3-5 in the Senate.
