NPR's in the headlines again, after that skinny git James O'Keefe conned the network's chief fundraiser into believing a cracker like O'Keefe somehow had $5m to give from some Muslim group. The fundraising guy had apparently had a few too many lunch beverages and got off on a tangent about teabaggists being gun-crazed racist loons.
Which there is ample evidence of, just as an aside.
So today the president of NPR cut her own head off in the fallout. Conservatives are up on their hind legs like the apes in 2001:A Space Odyssey. They've discovered, they think, what you can do with a big bone.
The episode reflects little credit on anyone.
For NPR's foundation head, how dumb can he be doing lunch with some unknowns claiming to have $5m to splash big without doing some vetting? Especially when the "donors" insisted on such careful placement of a briefcase?
PBS, for its part, didn't get punk'd:
For O'Keefe and his shadowy backers, it was the sort of sophomore class prank he's known for. O'Keefe's just an Ali G wannabe with no sense of satire- which is what makes stunts like this funny- and effective. Sacha Baron Cohen has punk'd high political leaders in ways- and with hilarious mockery- that O'Keefe will never reach.
But more to the point, here's O'Keefe crying "gotcha" about NPR not being a dutiful right-wing suckup organ like O'Keefe. And is this sort of secret taping of conversations even legal?
Too little, too late, though: the House has already voted to defund CPB and NPR. These nitwits can't even stay ahead of the curve.

WASHINGTON (AP) — PBS says it was contacted by the same fake Muslim group that arranged a meeting with an NPR executive and secretly videotaped him calling the tea party racist.
PBS spokeswoman Anne Bentley said Wednesday that they had an initial conversation with the Muslim Education Action Center but had concerns about the group. She says a PBS executive was contacted, but when PBS couldn't confirm the organization's credentials, they halted discussions.
The Muslim Education Action Center is tied to conservative activist James O'Keefe. He posted a video online Tuesday of NPR executive Ron Schiller meeting with the fake Muslim group. The tape led to the resignation of NPR's chief executive, Vivian Schiller.
