A couple of articles explore why African-American politicians don't get higher than the US House. Neither one really gives much thought to the situation of African-American Republicans, who run in a different sort of geopolitical dynamic. It'd be interesting to see one of the SC blogdom's consultant/bloggers project a viable route upward for GOP Congressman Tim Scott, as a thought experiment. Scott ran for lieutenant governor in 2010 before dropping out of the three way race recently-disgraced incumbent Ken Ard resigned. Scott switched over to the safe seat held by retiring Congressman Henry Wilson and won.
