What fresh hell is this? The Dorothy Parker electronic version

Now we can quantify misery.

An Israeli man was wearing a FitBit watch when his love rang up and dumped him. Ticking away, the device recorded his physiological response as he heard the news, and absorbed it over the course of the day:

Does having such data make it easier, or harder, to deal with loss?  Will his friends say, "Oh that's nothing, look what mine registered when my hamster died"?

If such things have any value, maybe they will serve as a helpful response to friends and family whose response to loss- especially when they have had a hand in visiting upon us- is to cut us off in mid-sentence. "Well, there's nothing you can do about it now. Just suck it up and move on."
